Suravi vegetable and food processing cluster, which is one of the progressive food processing clusters in Odisha has undergone MSME-DFO verification on 5th June, 2024. Shri. S.N Dash, Deputy Director and Shri. D.C Mishra, Assistant Director from MSME-DFO were accompanied by Dr. Barada Prasanna Sahoo- Manager, Mr. Suramya Mishra – Manager and Ms. Subhasmita Sahoo – Young Professional from KIIT-Technology Business Incubator, the Technical Agency. Mr. Liyakat Khan, representative of “Society for Human Advancement & Rural Education (SHARE)”, the Implementing Agency (IA) of the cluster and the members of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) provided a cordial welcome to the officials present.
The cluster journey started in the year 2020 under SFURTI scheme of MoMSME with an aim to empower the local farmers by mobilizing them as a collective and uplift the local economy as a whole. Different value-added products of mango and tomato such as; mango juice, mango pulp, mango pickle, tomato ketchup, tomato puree and tomato pickle etc. are proposed to be produced at the Common Facility Center (CFC) of the cluster.
Mr. Khan gave a tour of the cluster to the officials of MSME-DFO and KIIT-TBI. A thorough scrutiny of the civil work, plant & machinery was done by the officials followed by the trial run of the machineries to ensure functioning of the cluster.

The representatives of MSME-DFO and KIIT-TBI also had a detailed discussion with the representative of the IA and SPV on the future plans, timeline to finish the pending tasks such as – electrification of the raw material bank and office area, completion of the civil work of the cold storage and Soft Intervention activities- ensuring complete functionalization the cluster and developing marketing strategies to onboard the products in national and international markets. The officials of MSME-DFO expressed their willingness to support the IA in terms of any certification, licensing, trademark, market linkage or branding of products required at the CFC.
