Lean awareness programme held at KIIT University in collaboration with NPC, SIDBI and OASME to empower MSMEs

Another day and another successful lean awareness programme. In collaboration with NPC (National Productivity Council) – Bhubaneswar and OASME (Odisha Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises), one lean awareness programme has been organized at KIIT University on 24 th January, 2025 under SIDBI cluster intervention programme. The objective was to foster process optimization and enhance productivity, efficiency and competitiveness in MSMEs through implementation of MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme (MCLS).

About 32 MSME units from printing and packaging industries of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar had participated in the awareness programme. The programme was graced by the august presence of esteemed guests including; Shri Pradyumna Choudhury – DGM, SIDBI, Sh. Samarendra Sahu – Advisor, KIIT-TBI, Sh. Roshan Kujur – Deputy Director, NPC, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Sushant Tripathy – Professor and Dean, School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT University and Sh. Saroj Patro – President, OASME (Khordha Chapter). Mr. Ashwini Kumar Sahoo and Mr. Bhaskar Singh from SIDBI cluster development team and Mr. Debashis Tripathy, Mr. Suramya Mishra and Ms. Subhasmita Sahoo from KIIT-TBI had also joined the programme.

The MSMEs were sensitized on the scheme, different lean tools and techniques, their application in industry operations, financial assistance and the scheme benefits. They were also guided on how to enroll under the scheme, access technical support and receive subsidized lean consulting services. Out of 32 MSMEs, 25 took pledge and expressed their willingness to implement LEAN in their respective units. Several queries from the units regarding the scheme implementation were addressed by Sh. Choudhury, Sh. Sahu and Sh. Kujur. OASME and NPC committed the units to provide all the technical assistance, support in formation of GoEs (Group of Enterprises) and on ground LEAN implementation.
