DIVING INTO THE SUCCESS OF UDALA PALMAROSA CLUSTER- FIELD VISIT BY KIIT-TBI SFURTI TEAM

Since its inception in 2019 under the SFURTI scheme with technical assistance from KIIT-TBI, the UDALA PALMAROSA CLUSTER under the astute management of Social Organization on Various Aspects (SOVA), has made remarkable progress impacting the lives of beneficiaries through economic and social empowerment. The cluster is one of the prominent clusters under the SFURTI scheme that has not only kept its progress unfazed but also succeeded in fostering harmony in the neighboring localities. To review the progress and current status of activities, a team of esteemed officials from technical agency (KIIT-TBI) led by Dr. Barada Prasanna Sahoo, Manager and consisting of Mr. Suramya Mishra, Manager; and Mr. Manoranjan Maharana, Cluster Associate visited the cluster on 24 th July 2024.

Mr. Ranjan Mishra, representative of SOVA, the Implementing Agency (IA) and the Mr. Nihar Ranjan Panda, CEO of Hingula Agri Producer Company Limited, the special purpose vehicle of the cluster provided a cordial welcome to the officials and provided them with a tour of the cluster and its various activities. The team was delighted to witness the cluster’s innovative product range, which includes various value-added products from Palmarosa such as essential oil, therapeutic grade oil, moisturizing and soothing body massage oil, air fresheners, and lemongrass-based products like mosquito repellent ointments, disinfectants, and essential oils etc.

The officials conducted a comprehensive review of the cluster’s production metrics, sales data, marketing channels, and business practices. They also discussed the way forward for the cluster including possible expansion and convergence with other schemes. The officials of Technical Agencies expressed their commitment to assist the IA with certification, licensing, trade marking, market linkage, and product branding needs of the cluster. Additionally, the Hingula Agri Producer Company Limited (SPV) received support from the KIIT-TBI team in registering for the MSME Competitive (Lean) scheme. The recent visit by KIIT-TBI officials underscored the cluster's achievements and potential for future expansion. With continued support and commitment from technical agency, including assistance with certification and market linkage, the cluster is well-positioned to further enhance its success and positively influence its community.
